- Pieces move one square diagonally forward onto an empty dark square.
- Capture by jumping over an enemy piece to the empty square just beyond it. Ordinary pieces may capture backwards as well as forwards.
- Capturing is compulsory: if you can jump, you must. After a jump, keep jumping with the same piece while you can.
- Reach the far row to become a king. A king moves any distance along a clear diagonal and can jump an enemy from a distance.
- You win when your opponent has no pieces left or cannot make a move.
Tips
- Because captures are compulsory, you can offer a piece to pull an enemy piece where you want it.
- A piece that reaches the far row during a chain of jumps becomes a king when the chain ends.
